The roots of Jonni Botten reach far down into the underground and back into time:
Starting out in 1995 the first beats and raps from Berlin – Mitte came up. At the beginning of 1996, Robin Weed and MC Zoomatra recorded their first song “Alles was du willst”, which happened to be the cornerstone of the first streettape.
The release of “Blitzkrieg/Spiel 77”, early in 1998 was celebrated properly with a huge party. A quite noteworthy crowd of approximately 300 people came to the “Milchhof” in Berlin – Mitte to see the duo’s first concert. During the following time parties and performances came upon, for example one at the “Subground im Pfefferberg” or at the “Hip – Hop Sommerschule” at the Berliner Volksbühne.
In summer 2001 the “Mitte Massiv – Single” was released with the same named hit single, including the instrumentals and plain vocals on the a - side and “Bewegt eure Körper” and “101 ist unser Ghetto” on the b – side. The video even made it into the “Supreme” – show of the channel Viva2 made and hosted by Falk Hawkeye. The release concert at the “Razzle Dazzle” club in Berlin – Friedrichshain, which featured the local heroes “Pilskills, became just like the whole project a complete success.
It continued and consequently in 2003 the label Jonni Botten was established and the first official album “Laufen lernen wie Jonni Botten” came out the same year. Almost 600 hip-hop-heads gathered to the record release party at the legendary SO 36 in Berlin – Kreuzberg. The two hour live – performance included besides the main acts from Jonni Botten the musicians Flavour Unique, the polish rappers Kaszalot & Zawodnik, the female singer Salia and a graffiti - & breakdanceshow. The album containing all the instrumentals too was available on double vinyl records, a double cd and tape as a limited edition.
2005 the “Crimetime” album is being released exclusively in the label – owned glossy print magazine”Streetbeatmag”, which is spread all over Europe.
